Twiggs Bakery offers a variety of cakes that can be tailored to your individual tastes. Following are the types of cakes we do:
Passionfruit, our biggest seller; a white chiffon cake filled with a passionfruit mousse
Carrot Cake, studded with walnuts with a cream cheese filling
Belgian Chocolate, a light chocolate chiffon cake filled with a creamy chocolate mousse
Double Chocolate, a dense chocolate cake with a rich truffle filling and raspberry jam
Miss Hazeltine's Chocolate Cake
An extremely moist chocolate cake with a creamy chocolate cream cheese filling.
Key Lime Coconut, a moist coconut cake accented with key lime curd
Blackberry Walnut, a walnut cake with blackberry jam and a light Cream cheese filling
Tiramisu, an espresso soaked cake with a mascarpone cheese filling
Lemon, a light chiffon cake filled with a tart lemon curd
Lemon Poppy Seed, a poppy seed cake filled with a tart lemon curd
German Chocolate, a moist chocolate cake with a caramel-pecan-coconut filling
Red Velvet, a southern tradition with pecan cream cheese filling
White Velvet For those who love our Red Velvet but don't want a red cake for their wedding. Super moist with a cream cheese filling.
Raspberry Lemon, a white chiffon cake with lemon cream and fresh raspberries. (unavailable October - March)
Strawberries and Cream, a chiffon cake with strawberry jam and a light cream filling
Victorian Wedding, a white cake is brushed with rosewater and frosted with buttercream and raspberry jam
All of our cakes are made from scratch with no artificial flavorings or preservatives to ensure the freshest taste possible. Cakes can be covered with your choice of rolled fondant, buttercream, white chocolate shavings or a stenciled sponge cake.
Tastings
We conduct all of our tasting at our café located at 4590 Park Boulevard on the corner of Park Boulevard and Madison Aveunue in University Heights. We conduct free tastings by appointment only. Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Tastings are held Monday – Saturday between 10am and 5pm. Please phone our office at (619) 296-4077 to make an appointment.
Pricing
Our cakes are priced per serving. A serving size is approximately 2"x2"x4".
Prices for Round Cakes with Buttercream or White Chocolate Shavings
One type of cake for every tier $4.00 per serving
Two types of cake $4.50 per serving
Three types of cake $5.00 per serving
Prices for Round Cakes with Rolled Fondant or Stenciled Sponge
One type of cake for every tier $5.50 per serving
Two types of cake $6.00 per serving
Three types of cake $6.50 per serving
Fresh fruit on top of each tier is $1.00 more per serving
Square Cakes are $.75 more per serving.
Blackberry Walnut, Tiramisu, Key Lime Coconut and Raspberry Lemon cakes are $.50 more per serving than the above due to the cost of ingredients in these cakes. Adding fresh strawberries to the Strawberries and Cream cake is also an additional $.50 per serving.
For large weddings, we can do separate sheet cakes which feed 50, 75 or 100 people at a reduced cost of $2 per serving.
There may be additional decorating costs depending on how elaborate or time-consuming the style of decoration you choose is. Any additional cost will be discussed in your tasting / consultation.
We do offer an active military discount of $1.00 per serving if either the bride or groom is on active military duty when the wedding occurs. We do not offer this discount if other family members are on active duty (father, brother, etc) or if the bride or groom is no longer on active duty.
Delivery Fee
There is a $45 delivery fee for locations within 15 miles of our bakery. Delivery is $75 for up to 40 miles one way and $125 beyond 40 miles. We do not deliver to Mexico or Orange County.
Reserving Your Date / Payment Terms
Once you select us, we require a $100 deposit to reserve your date. This deposit is refundable up to one month before the wedding. We require full payment one week before the wedding and will not deliver your cake without it. Also, if you order a cake with pedestals between each tier, we require a $50 deposit for the pedestals. This deposit is fully refunded if someone returns the pedestals within two weeks of your wedding date. If you select a cake where each tier is stacked directly on top of the ones below it, no additional deposit is required.
It’s important to reserve your date early – especially for summer weddings. We are a small operation and will only do 3 – 4 cakes per day as opposed to some large-scale operations that churn out 25 or more a weekend. After a third cake is booked for a particular day, we generally have to decline any further bookings to ensure there’s no decline in quality.

About Us
Your wedding cake will be baked and decorated by Twiggs’ co-owner, Dan Stringfield. Dan is a graduate of the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and has worked at two of the top bakeries in the Bay Area before moving to San Diego and opening Twiggs in 1997. Dan has extensive experience with wedding cakes. Your wedding cake, and all that it means to you, is assured of being in competent hands with Dan.
